Youth Group Swim Lessons

Group Swim Lessons

Information:

PAID LESSONS (Registration Online or In House through Daxko system)

  • Parent/Child Lessons (6m-3yrs)
  • PreK Lessons (3yr-5yr)
  • Youth Lessons (6yr-17yr) (Swim Basics & Swim Strokes)

Monthly Group Swim Lessons register as sessions. Private Swim Lessons anytime by request.

Late registration begins after 5pm on the Friday before lessons begin. 

Sessions have 8 Classes each being 30 min. long

Bring to lesson:

  • swimsuit
  • towel
  • long hair pulled back
  • goggles if appropriate 

 

Children will be evaluated for group lessons and placed in Swim Basics or Swim Strokes based on these criteria. We do our best to work with parents to keep siblings together whenever possible. Please speak to the aquatics director or swim instructors if you have further questions about your child's level.  

 

SWIM BASICS 

Level 1 Will the student go underwater voluntarily?

Level 2 Can the student do a front and back float on his or her own? 

Level 3 Can the student swim 10-15 yards on his or her front and back? 

SWIM STROKES

Swim Strokes is a stroke development and mechanics class that builds endurance.  Participants must be able to swim a lap independently and be comfortable with rotary breathing (rhythmic breathing to the side). Strokes include: Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Elementary Backstroke, Slide Stroke, and Butterfly 

Level 4 Can the student swim 15 yards front crawl (face in the water) and back crawl? 

***Has to be able to swim the width of the pool independently, any combination of strokes to be in Level 4 because it is focusing on rotary breathing.

Level 5 Can the student swim front crawl, back crawl, and breaststroke across the pool? 

***Has to be comfortable with rotary breathing and able to swim a lap any combination of strokes to be in Swim Strokes, they may build up to 10+ laps.

Level 6 Can the student swim front crawl, back crawl, and breaststroke across the pool and back?
