Scout Swim Test

Scout Swim Tests are for BSA Scouts 3rd Grade and up who plan to participate in council water activities over the Summer. The swim classification of individuals participating in a Boy Scouts of America activity is a key element in Safe Swim Defense and Safety Afloat. These swim classification tests are a foundational unit of the Aquatics Continuum.

Scout Swim Strokes Development

Scout Swim Strokes Development is a swim lesson session involving 4 30-minute classes specific to BSA Scouts who need further assistance to pass their Scout Swim Test. Working with a YMCA Swim Instructor in a group setting, scouts will work on swim technique and stroke development to improve their swimming abilities. Scouts will be given the opportunity to take the Scout Swim Test during the last class of the session. Participants must be able to swim the width of the pool without stopping or touching the bottom to register for these lessons.
